For the purposes of this disclosure statement, “personal data” will be understood to mean personal data sent by Users when registering on the site, in addition to data obtained when visiting and browsing the Site and subsequently supplied by Users to activate the services offered within the Site.
During the registration and request procedure for activation of the services offered on the Site, Users will be asked for two categories of personal data: compulsory and optional. The transfer and processing of compulsory data are intended strictly for the performance of the services stated on the Site. The refusal of Users to supply such data or to consent to their processing will make it impossible for them to benefit from the services offered by the Site. Optional data are gathered by Universo with the aim of delivering an ever-improving service. Users are free to supply or withhold such data. Accordingly, registration with the Site is subject to the transfer of compulsory data and to acceptance of the conditions of use of the Site. Universo S.p.A. reserves the right to cancel the registration and adopt the necessary measures to suspend the services offered by the Site should the compulsory or optional data communicated by a User prove false.
If Users do not wish to give their consent to the processing of personal data for the purposes indicated below, they are free to visit the Site pages but may not use the services offered by the Site nor take part in the initiatives available on it (e.g. forum, prize contests, competitions, etc.).
The personal data supplied by Users may be communicated by Universo solely to:
- other companies for the same purposes as those for which the personal data have been gathered;
- public or private bodies in compliance with the obligations laid down by contract, by law or by community legislation;
- third parties contracted by Universo to perform activities directly connected to and instrumental in the delivery and distribution of the services.
The personal data of Users are subject to the following processing operations: gathering, recording, organisation, storage, elaboration, modification, selection, extraction, comparison, use, interconnection and all other operations conducive to the supply of the requested services, including communication to third parties, when necessary - using automated and computerised means. Such data may also be organised in databanks or files.
In particular, the purposes for which personal data are processed are as follows:
- to provide Users with the services envisaged;
- to verify the quality of the services offered;
- to satisfy all and any accounting and tax requirements;
- to satisfy market and statistical surveys, product marketing and preferences;
- to identify perpetrators of illicit acts only in the event of specific requests and on behalf of the competent authorities;
- if Users have given their appropriate consent, to provide information and/or offers on products, services or initiatives offered or promoted by Universo S.p.A. and/or by affiliated and/or subsidiary companies, or by commercial partners, without thereby constituting an assignment of personal data to third parties;
Users may access their own data at any time and exercise the rights afforded by articles 7, 8, 9 and 10 of the Privacy Code.
Thus Users may secure:
- confirmation of the existence or otherwise of personal data regarding them, even if not yet registered, and the communication of such data in intelligible form;
- information on the origin of the personal data, the purposes and procedures for their processing, the logic applied where processing is carried out using electronic tools;
- information on the data controller, data supervisors and designated representative in pursuance of article 5, subparagraph two, of the Privacy Code, on the entities or categories of entities to whom or which the personal data may be communicated and who or which may become acquainted with such data as the designated representative within the territory of Italy, or as supervisors or operators.
in addition to the above, Users may be entitled to elicit:
- the update, correction or, should they so wish, supplementation of the data;
- the deletion, conversion into anonymous form or blocking of data processed in breach of the law, including data whose retention is unnecessary for the purposes for which they have been collected or subsequently processed;
- A statement to the effect that the operations referred to at points 1) and 2) above have been brought to the attention, in respect also of their content, of those to whom such data have been communicated or disseminated, save where fulfilment of this requirement proves impossible or entails the use of resources manifestly disproportionate to the protected right.
Users are entitled to object, wholly or in part, for legitimate reasons to the processing of personal data regarding them, even if relevant to the purposes for which they were collected, and to the processing of personal data relating to them for the purpose of sending publicity or direct sales materials or of conducting market research or sales communications.
In addition, Users will always have direct access via the web to their own data as possessed by Universo S.p.A. via their own access codes to the Site functions and to the services provided therein by Universo S.p.A.. In this way Users may supplement, change or delete data at any time directly and independently, assuming responsibility therefore.
